PHT 001

Franklin Local History photographic collection

1914-2012, undated

​

The collection consists of photographs, negatives, double sided photo cards, and color slides depicting images from the history of the Town of Franklin including aerial shots of the Town, holiday celebrations, churches, houses, businesses, and people.

 

The collection dates from 1914 to 2012. Some of the material is undated.

Stanley Chilson Fire Photographs collection

1928-1946

​

The collection consists of black-and-white photographs taken by Stanley Chilson. The images portray fires and firemen in Franklin and surrounding towns. The bulk of the photographs depict fires in Franklin.

 

The collection dates from 1928 to 1946.

Stanley Chilson Drive Carefully Photographs collection

1931-1937

​

The collection consists of black-and-white photographs taken by Stanley Chilson. The photographs portray vehicular accidents in which at least one person was killed. Some are collisions with other cars while others occurred at railroad crossings. The photographs chronicle the dangers of driving a motor vehicle and were meant to encourage safe driving.

 

This collection dates from 1931 to 1937.

Ellen M. Newell Drawings and Photographs collection

1978

​

The collection is comprised of 101 objects including black-and-white photographs and ink drawings mounted on cardboard backing. The materials in this collection portray images of the Town of Franklin from portraits and bicentennial events to houses, churches, and schools.

 

The entire collection dates to 1978.

Dohn Cluff Drawings collection

The collection is comprised of drawings which portray images of buildings including churches, schools, and city halls in the Town of Franklin and surrounding towns.

Nina C. Santoro Slides collection

1978

​

The collection is comprised of 223 black-and-white and color slides portraying the history of the Town of Franklin.

 

The slides in the collection date to 1978.

Franklin Quilt Slides collection

1978

​

The collection is comprised of 62 color slides portraying the Franklin Quilt. The images include individual shots of the squares, the quilt once it was put together, and the real life places in Franklin that the quilt squares were based on.

Franklin Stereo Cards collection

The collection is comprised of stereo cards depicting images from the history of the Town of Franklin.

The collection is comprised of polaroid photographs portraying various subjects relating to the Town of Franklin, Massachusetts including Franklin’s Bicentennial Celebration, Fourth of July festivities, schools, firefighters, and natural disasters.
